The Northern Ale Stars are all about homebrewing. But they do it with group support.

Dan Slick is a member of the local homebrewing club.

“We started back in 1982, so last year was our 40th anniversary,” Slick said.

They have monthly meetings on the second Wednesday of every month. In November, it will be at Warrior Brewing.

“We talk about beer, we bring the beer that we brew and sample it and discuss it and try to figure out how to become better homebrewers,” Slick said.

When he started homebrewing, he bought some simple equipment and books to learn. Now, there are YouTube resources and kits that are easy enough that “if you can make macaroni and cheese from a box, you can brew a batch of beer.”
