What’s Brewing: Zeitgeist winter cocktails and mocktails
Zeitgeist Restaurant + Bar’s winter menu includes both twists on traditional cocktails and zero- or low-proof cocktails.
The Root Cellar is a popular one that uses beet syrup, Vikre Aquavit, lime juice, and more. It comes out a deep pink color and is topped with a piece of charred rosemary for a festive feel.
Bar Manager Grace Goeks also mixed up a Pushcart Champion, which can be made non-alcoholic or with a low-proof alcohol option. It provides a unique combination of cold brew, lime juice, jalapeno syrup, and chocolate bitters. Don’t knock it ’til you’ve tried it.
Goeks said part of Zeitgeist’s mission is to promote a healthier community, so they’re proud to offer accessible, mixed drinks without alcohol.
“It feels really good to be able to go somewhere if you don’t drink and have something that’s accessible to you, that feels like it’s made for you,” Goeks said. “You know you can get a soda anywhere, but to be able to go somewhere and get something that’s well-balanced with interesting flavors I think is a really nice experience.”
Zeitgeist Restaurant + Bar opens at 4 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday.
