One candlemaker in Superior is turning heads with her creative designs where her costumers are able to take parts of the North Shore home with them.

Lake Escape Candle Co. is home to the “Rock Bottom” gel candles where owner Jessica Polecheck puts the sand and rocks from famous North Shore locations at the bottom of the candles and tops it off with a melting gel.

Jessica spends time traveling all over the Northland collecting all kinds of rocks, agates, and sand to include in her candles.

“They seem to evoke a lot of emotion in people. They get so overjoyed,” says Jessica.

She also makes soy candles, which are easier to add fragrance to. “I personally like woodsy, nature, and outdoorsy fragrances says Jessica.
