Author and UMD Professor Jill Doerfler talks about her book about Deb Haaland, the first Native American Cabinet Secretary.
Jill Doerfler teaches American Indian Studies to college students at UMD, but she’s also educating younger learners through a book.
She co-authored “Deb Haaland: First Native American Cabinet Secretary” for students in grades 4-8.
Haaland is the current U.S. Secretary of the Interior. The book follows her early life and career and her efforts to champion the climate and the rights of Native peoples.
