Minntac conveyor collapses, no injuries reported
Crews at Minntac are dealing with a serious infrastructure problem, as a conveyor system reportedly collapsed. The union confirmed it’s the second conveyor problem in the past week. Officials confirmed no one was hurt.
Minntac is the biggest mine in the Northland and is owned by U.S.Steel.
In a statement given to WDIO, U.S. Steel says, “They are investigating the cause and developing plans for repair.”
They also said, “There was no danger to personnel at any time, and there were no injuries. At this time, we do not anticipate impact to our customers or supply chain.”
