BNSF has a program which gives people money for the cleaning of their homes.

New rates have been released.

  1. Self-clean (requires before and after pictures) the most utilized option and will see an increase. Approved claims for self-cleaning:
    · Homes under 2,200 sq. ft may be reimbursed up to $400 (currently up to $300)
    · Homes 2,201 sq. ft. and over may be reimbursed up to $500 (currently up to $300)
  2. Approved claims for professional services (requires receipts for cleaning)
    · Homes under 2,200 sq. ft. may be reimbursed up to $1,000
    · Homes 2,201 sq. ft. and over may be reimbursed up to $1,500

Although numbers vary, about 160 households submit reimbursement claims each year.

“I’m really proud of the working relationship we’ve built to improve communication, and I will always be here to ensure this program runs as smoothly as possible–I’m here to do that work,” said City Councilor Jenny Van Sickle.

She lives in the neighborhood as well, and advocated for the reinstatement of the program back in 2020.

Eligibility: Properties that are ½ mile from the taconite facility are roughly between the Nemadji River and Bluff Creek.
