Sandvik is based in Sweden. But the mining equipment vendor has been on the Range for decades.
But recently, they moved into a new location that’s more visible.
Bob Hamalainen, the branch manager, told us, "We are extremely excited to be here. It’s been a long wait. We were at our old site for 25 years. Now we’ve made a larger imprint on the area, and are expanding our offerings. We have a larger team, and we needed to get a larger footprint to show we mean business."
Their new state of the art crusher is ready to go. Eric Erkkila, account manager, said he just had a meeting on Wednesday morning about it, and hoped to have it installed shortly.
As for the company, Erikkila said, "It’s a very ethical company. They spend a lot of time watching the impact they have at the foundries, recycling materials. They watch their carbon footprint. And their engineering is second to none."
Sandvik hosted an open house to show their customers and the community their new space, which is on Mountain Iron Drive.
