The gate is locked for now, but the Hull Rust Mine View in Hibbing will be open again in 10 days.
And senior volunteers met on Tuesday to get refreshed on all the duties and responsibilities.
Claudia Merscher has been doing this for four years. "You meet people from all over the country. And you get travel ideas. And you get to share the jewel of the Northland. Plus, visitors are always friendly."
Some have roots deep in mining. Leonard Hirsch used to work in the industry. Now, he makes sure the next generations understand how important it is.
"People who are educated, stand there with their hand on the steel fence, and drive here in their steel car, and say, why do we need iron mining anymore? Well, it’s important for them to learn how we got where we are."
And that’s on the shoulders of generations of immigrants who moved here for a better life.
Cleveland-Cliffs provided new T-shirts for the crew.
The attraction opens at 10am on Friday, the 20th.
