Sierra Naess

Anchor, Good Morning Northland

Sierra Naess is thrilled to begin her broadcasting career as a morning news anchor for WDIO’s Good Morning Northland. Sierra is passionate about starting the day on a positive note and sharing the stories that matter most to our community.

Sierra grew up in Minnesota, and graduated from Anoka High School, where she was involved in competition dance and lacrosse. She went on to attend Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona, graduating in the spring of 2024. Sierra is excited to begin her broadcast career in her home state. She is looking forward to getting out and seeing what nothern Minnesota and Wisconsin have to offer.

From a young age, Sierra started her mornings watching shows like Kelly and Michael and Good Morning America before heading to school. Those morning programs brought a smile to her face and set a positive tone for her day. “I can’t believe I get to be the person people wake up to every day,” she says. “It’s an honor to wake up with the Northland and be the smiling face others may look forward to in the morning.” Sierra adds, “If my ten-year-old self could see me now, she wouldn’t believe it!”

When she’s not on the anchor desk, Sierra loves hiking, traveling to new places, and attending live concerts. Above all, she cherishes time spent with her family and close friends, who add immense value to her life, serving as her greatest supporters and cheerleaders. Sierra strives every day to make them proud.
