Esko girls soccer suffers shootout loss in state quarterfinals
The Esko girls soccer team suffered a shootout loss in state quarterfinals Thursday.
The No. 5 Esko girls soccer team suffered a shootout loss to No. 4 St. Paul Academy in the Class A state quarterfinals played in Irondale Thursday.
Esko scored first early in the first half to take a 1-0 lead. St. Paul Academy responded in the second half tying the game 1-1. This forced overtime, which ended scoreless. Then came the shootout, where St. Paul Academy would come out on top winning the game 2-1.
Esko finishes their season with a 13-3-3 record in their second straight state tournament.
