#4 UMD women’s hockey ends in tie, win shootout against MSU Mankato
Fourth ranked UMD women’s hockey had won three straight going into Saturday’s matchup with MSU Mankato and were hoping for a series sweep, but couldn’t get the upper hand, ending with a 3-3 tie. UMD did win the shootout.
The Bulldogs first surrendered the lead, but Tova Henderson’s slapshot in the second period knotted the game up at 1-1.
In the third period, the two teams continued the back and forth action, as the Bulldogs trailed 2-1 and then 3-2, before both Olivia Wallin and Clara Van Wieren scored to even the game up.
Neither team scored in overtime, officially ending in a tie, however UMD took home the shootout win thanks to Tova Henderson again.
UMD now waits another 13 days to hit the ice again, and they’ll face the University of Minnesota when they do on November 15th.
