#5 UMD women’s hockey learning from mistakes before home opener
This weekend the UMD women’s hockey team finally hosts their home opener.
The Bulldogs started the season looking unstoppable after sweeping top ranked Ohio State, but have now dropped three straight, including two against now top ranked Wisconsin.
“They definitely exposed some stuff on us,” said head coach Laura Schuler. “So this weekend we were like, this is gonna be a work week for us. We’re gonna identify areas that we need to be better at and go to work these next couple of days here to prepare for this weekend. So I’m happy that it happened so that we can be better going forward.”
“Yeah, you know, it was a tough series and not every series you’re gonna be able to sweep the number one team in the nation,” said Hanna Baskin, a senior defender. “So I think we’re gonna take a lot away from that in the way we played and then the way we can adapt to that too.”
UMD won’t have to face a ranked team this weekend, as they’ll host St. Thomas Friday at 3 p.m. and Saturday at 2 p.m.
