#6 UMD women’s hockey can’t handle #8 St. Cloud State
The #6 UMD women’s hockey team couldn’t come away with the weekend sweep against the St. Cloud State Huskies, losing 5-1 on Saturday.
UMD outshot St. Cloud State 36-29 in the game, but Huskies goaltender Sanni Ahola made 35 stops against the Bulldogs.
After a 1-0 lead in the first period, the Huskies poured on two more goals in the second period, which looked like it would be enough to put away the Bulldogs.
Eventually, Reece Hunt would score for UMD to cut the deficit down to 3-1, but St. Cloud State would add two empty net goals to worsen the blow for the Bulldogs.
UMD is now off for almost a month, as the Bulldogs will face Quinnipiac on January 5th and 6th.
