#6 UMD women’s hockey can’t top #4 Minnesota despite late push

UMD women's hockey downs Bemidji State (2-7-25)
UMD women’s hockey hasn’t beat Minnesota since March of 2022, and that trend continued on Friday night, as the #6 Bulldogs fell 3-2 to the #4 Golden Gophers.
The Bulldogs trailed midway through the third period, as the Gophers scored 15 minutes into play, but Olivia Wallin tied the game at 1-1 before the end of the period. In the second, however, the Golden Gophers would do the most damage, scoring twice to extend their lead to 3-1.
The Bulldogs couldn’t find the back of the net until late in the third period, when Wallin found the back of the net yet again. However, the Bulldogs couldn’t break through to score the equalizer.
The Bulldogs will try to snap their losing streak against Minnesota on Saturday, when the puck drops at 2 p.m.
