#6 UMD women's hockey rides strong first period to sweep over MSU Mankato

Three first period goals for the UMD women’s hockey team was enough for the Bulldogs to distance themselves on Saturday, as UMD took down MSU Mankato, 4-1.

Just three minutes into the action, Olivia Mobley found the back of the net despite being shorthanded to open the scoring floodgates. Zoey Krock scored just under three minutes later to increase the Bulldogs lead to 2-0, but Mankato would strike back soon after.

At 2-1, Mobley would score her second goal of the game to put the Bulldogs ahead 3-1, where the game would remain all the way until the final 30 seconds of play, when Mary Kate O’Brien scored on an empty net.

UMD heads south to take on the Minnesota Golden Gophers next weekend to wrap up their season.
