#7 UMD women’s hockey edges MSU-Mankato on home ice
The #7 UMD women’s hockey team held on to beat Minnesota State Mankato on Saturday, winning 2-1 for the series sweep.
It took until just under two minutes in the first period for the first score of the game, as Oliva Wallin took a shot on goal, and while the puck was knocked back down to the ice, followed her shot and poked it in for a 1-0 lead.
After a scoreless second period, Clara Van Wieren scored on a power play in the third to give UMD a 2-0 lead.
Despite letting up a goal, UMD would close out the game and snag their 15th win of the season.
UMD is next in action on Friday against St. Thomas.
