#7 UMD women’s hockey surrenders 3rd period goal, falls to #2 Wisconsin
After an early third period goal by #2 Wisconsin, the #7 UMD women’s hockey team couldn’t erase a 2-1 deficit and fell to the Badgers, 2-1.
After a first period in which neither team saw the back of the net due to great goaltending from both sides, the Badgers struck first in the second period, as the puck slid by Hailey MacLeod and into the back of the net, giving the Badgers a 1-0 lead.
Just over four minutes later, Danielle Burgen received a pass from Mannon McMahon and sent a bullet on net, equalizing the game at 1-1.
However, on a power play at the beginning of the third quarter, the Bulldogs surrendered a goal to the Badgers just a minute into the period, and from then on, the UMD offense completely shut down, as they couldn’t tie the game.
The Bulldogs are back in action on Saturday against the Badgers looking for revenge. The puck drops at 3:01 at AMSOIL Arena.
