Sitting at a perfect 20-0 on the season is what the Superior High School girls’ softball team brings to the prep sports table.
After finishing last season with a 19-3 record in the state semifinals, the team continues to boast a well-balanced roster now with experienced talent.
“At the beginning of every season, we were very hopeful; and we did have a lot of players returning. We were hoping for the best and everything has been working in our favor so far. It was kind of expected that we were going to have a really good and nice season,” said head coach Mike Sataer.
Their season includes 12 shutout wins, most recently an 11-0 victory over Proctor, who is second in their class in the state. The Spartans currently sit in second place in Division 1 in Wisconsin, attributes a lot to their success.
“Having really strong defense. These girls make plays out there that I have never since teams make before. The offense is so strong from the first batter to the ninth batter, they can all hit well, so I think that’s the big part,” senior pitcher Haley Zembo shared.
The Spartans will look to complete their regular season undefeated when they hit the field on the road on Friday against Hudson then they play their final game on Saturday against Chippewa Falls at home.
