The University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) football team is just over three weeks away from their 2023 season opener.
Battling injuries last season, especially at quarterback, UMD finished 8-3 falling short of the playoffs. With players returning healthy from summer break, head coach Curt Wiese is excited to scout potential during their early practices.
“A lot of those guys that gained experience last year through upperclassmen getting injured were given opportunity last fall. But some of those were only spot time, a quarter or a half, whatever it may be. This year their development can be super important for us, our linebacking crew, those guys that have been waiting for a year to be able to play college football, that’s what we’re excited about this fall camp.”
The Bulldog’s season opener is Thursday, August 31 at their home of Malosky Stadium. They’re hosting Northern Michigan with a 6 p.m. kickoff.
