Earlier last week the Cloquet boy’s golf team was named section 7AA champions. Marking the 6th straight year that the Lumberjacks will be heading to the state tournament.
After last year finishing in fifth and the year prior winning it all at the state level, it’s a team that’s well tested and knows what to expect.
“The biggest thing is our depth. We have six or seven players that can actually get in the seventies every round, and that’s been a big advantage over the area teams. It’s allowed us to play some strong competition down in the cities and hopefully that’ll hold us throughout the state tournament to have another solid finish down there,” said head coach Aaron Young.
The Lumberjacks now will now head to Ridges at Sand Creek, in Jordan Minnesota for the state tournament next week begininng on Tuesday.
“This will be my third year in a row every year. I’ve had a great group of guys surrounding me every year. When I was younger, they taught me the way and I’m a little bit older so I can teach my teammates the way. We always have a blast down there and incredible. I grant all my success to my teammates and coaches because they really put me in the place to succeed and that’s what I’ve done so far, so I am very lucky for that,” concluded sophomore Karson Young.
