Cloquet-Carlton girl’s soccer raises the bar to continue a legacy of success
Cloquet-Carlton girl’s soccer just finished their first week of practice for the 2024 season Friday, but already they’re setting the bar high. The Lumberjacks’ goal is to work their way back to the state tournament, and win their sixth straight Section title.
“Every year is very independent and very unique. It’s hard not to let the season in front of you kind of affect things this year. I feel like we only graduated two and we’re very strong. So, we’re very much forward-thinking right now as opposed to looking back. I think they all got a taste for this, we got some good experience, but what it does is it just sets the expectations in the bar very high for us,” head coach Dustin Randall said.
With a majority of their team returning to the field, now seniors like Rylee Senich and Natalia Hernandez work to continue the legacy they have watched grow over the past five seasons.
“Taking each game step-by-step. We’re going to work hard, and hopefully everyone stays healthy, and that will help us a lot,” Senich said.
“I’m just really looking forward to playing with everybody because we’ve made like a big connection with this team, and I feel like everyone’s just our family,” Hernandez added. “I feel like that’s just going to help us out because we know each other really well. We just know our plays and what we’re going to do on the field.”
The Lumberjacks will take to their new home field on Friday, August 25 at 1pm against Saint Francis High School.
