Last season the Cloquet-Carlton girls soccer team fought their way to their fourth straight Section 7AA title. Now the Lumberjacks are chopping away at training working towards building another state tournament worthy squad.
“Actually kind of amazing still to hear the four in a row. The years really go by fast but we’re just going to pick away at what we do,” head coach Dustin Randall said. “Kind of back to the drawing board and start work now and hopefully we get that success again.”
“We said last year was a rebuilding year, but I think we all agree that this year will be mainly our rebuilding year. I think we’re all excited to see the potential that we have,” senior defender Madison Fredrickson said.
The Lumberjacks boast just two seniors while welcoming six new talents to varsity.
Their season opener is August 25 against St. Francis at Hilltop Park in Cloquet. That will be their home-away from home during their stadium’s construction.
“We’re hoping to play there maybe in the playoffs, last couple games, but it will be definitely different. I haven’t played here since I was on JV so it will be different,” senior Kiley Issendorf shared.
