The 1,000 points club in basketball is a special one, but the 1,000 kills club in volleyball is especially exclusive.
Tuesday night, with her first point in their 3-0 win at Rock Ridge, Cloquet senior Ava Carlson hit her way to that mega milestone.
“I mean it makes me feel good. But I definitely put in the work, along with my teammates, and I feel like I definitely deserved it. I’m just super excited and happy about it,” Carlson shared at practice Wednesday.
Carlson now boasts 1,015 career kills, a feat that is seemingly one of a kind for the Lumberjacks.
“This is my 20th season at Cloquet, so we haven’t during the time that I’ve been here,” head coach Heidi Anderson said in reference to previous 1,000 kill players. “We weren’t able to find if there was someone that has in the past. So as far as we know of, it’s our first 1,000 point career kill at Cloquet volleyball.”
Thanks in part to Carlson’s efforts Cloquet sits 9-2 overall with seven regular season games left. They next visit Greenway Thursday at 7 p.m..
