The 2023 John Beargrease Sled Dog Marathon is wrapping up. The final full marathon mushers are crossing the finish line Tuesday evening.
One of them was Katherine Langlais, who placed seventh overall.
Her partner Remy Leduc spoke to WDIO’s Alicia Tipcke Monday morning after he finished the mid-distance race. Leduc shared that he and Langlais, running out of Akkada Kennel, had a big strategy for their teams this year.
“We wanted actually at one point to put the two team in the full marathon and we changed our mind because we had so many younger dogs that we decided to put it on the shorter run. But yeah we wanted to put one team in the full marathon for sure with most of the best dogs we’ve got,” Leduc shared.
Leduc finished 16th overall in the Beargrease 120. He then packed up his team from Finland, Minnesota and headed up the trail to meet Langlais, transitioning from a musher to her handler.
Langlais finished with a time of 54:35.21 Tuesday in the 300 mile race.
