Saturday morning at 7:00 a.m. anglers hit the water for the 2023 Kolar Toyota ALS Fishing Tournament at Island Lake in Duluth.
With over 100 boats registered for the in-person competition and 19 teams competing virtually, the 28th year of the event was one of the largest there has ever been.
Bringing together even other adaptive programs here in the Northland like Courage Kenny, show casing that anyone can fish.
“Our focus has been on getting anglers together that have some need for a mechanical solution to participate. Some are avid anglers, some are maybe not able to fish anymore. So this is a day on the water and it became clear about a year ago that it made sense for us to come together on this. To lift up individuals that happen to have ALS as well in terms of having those folks out on the water for a good day of fishing,” said Courage Kenny Director Eric Larson.
Courage Kenny rehabilitation institute was formed in June of 2013, while in the past two and a half decades the ALS Fishing Tournament has raised over $4 million to help find a cure for ALS.
