South Ridge and College of Saint Scholastica alum Nick Carlson is finding success in professional basketball. The Minnesota standout is currently playing for the Keysborough Cougars in Melbourne, Australia.

“It feels really good, especially coming from a small town in northern Minnesota and then playing locally at Scholastica, for like at a small D3 school. It’s really cool, to come over to Australia and be able to, to be able to play over here and make a little name for myself,” said Carlson.

Carlson has just recorded a single-game personal best with 48 points in the June 22nd game against the Western Port Steelers.

“I think being at South Ridge and going to Scholastica, um, kind of gave me a little bit of a chip on my shoulder so it kinda, it keeps me hungry and wanting more and wanting to create more opportunities for myself,” said Carlson.

Carlson graduated from South Ridge High school in 2018, and St. Scholastica in 2023. He played for Team Philadelphia in the 2023 Eurobasket Summer League in Las Vegas before playing with the Cougars as a guard for the 2024 season.
