CSS falls short in overtime in season opener
On Saturday, the CSS Saints were just moments away from their first win of the season in their first game, but eventually fell 31-24 in overtime to Rockford.
The Saints were in a back and forth battle early on, taking a 3-0 lead, giving up a touchdown and then regaining the lead with a touchdown of their own from Jevon Williams.
The two teams would go into the half tied at 10-10, but in the second half, Rockford would go up 24-10.
Saints’ Donald West and Andre Burgess evened up the game with touchdowns of their own, but they’d fail to score in overtime, as Rockford scored the decisive overtime blow.
The Saints will look to earn their first win next Saturday against Crown College.
