Denfeld head boys soccer coach Anderson celebrates 30th year at the helm
Very rarely does a coach serve in the same role for 30 years, but Friday night at Marv Heikkinen Field was a celebration of that feat.
Head Coach Scott Anderson celebrated his 30th year of coaching the Hunters boys soccer tonight, with a barbeque followed by the annual Denfeld alumni soccer game.
Anderson’s dedication to Denfeld students and their community is a big factor as to why he’s been around for so long. The 2018 Great Lakes Coach of the Year reflected on his time on the sideline, and what it truly means to be a coach.
“Coaching is a mentorship role too,” said Anderson. “You hold yourself to another standard because the kids look up to you and hopefully they learn something from me about good sportsmanship or being a good citizen or a good student or any of that. So just as coaches, you know, we hold that role to our hearts. “
Anderson’s 30th year starts off on the road on August 23rd, as the Hunters travel to Mahtomedi, before opening home play the following Tuesday against North Branch.
