Dixon claims new program record as UMD softball cruises to doubleheader sweep
The UMD softball team is firing on all cylinders, as they beat Sioux Falls 12-4 and 7-1 in a two game doubleheader against Sioux Falls on Saturday.
After giving up a run in the top of the first inning, the UMD bats would settle in, especially Nicole Schmitt’s.
In game one, Schmitt hit two home runs and tallied 8 RBI in the win.
Pitcher Lauren Dixon also was her usual dominant self, going the distance for her 73rd complete game of her career, a new UMD record.
In game two, UMD didn’t hold back, scoring three runs in the bottom of the first inning and four in the bottom of the second, which would eventually be the rest of the scoring for the Bulldogs on the day.
UMD looks to reach the 30 win mark against Minnesota State Mankato on Tuesday.
