Duluth Denfeld aims to make last year's performance the program standard

Minnesota High School football made its return to the state on Monday, with the Denfeld Hunters looking to return back to the Section 7AAAA semifinal this year, and then even further.

“Yeah, build off that record, you know, every season is its own season, but as a program you want to keep building,” said head coach Erik Lofald.” This is where we wanted to be since day one, five years ago. Now we’re in year six as a staff and this is where we wanted to get to, to have success year in and year out and that seasons would stack up.”

Although the temperatures continued to climb on the turf for the Hunters, players like Jack Marshall were just happy to be back out on the field.

“We’re feeling very good,” said Marshall, a senior right guard. “We got some young kids coming up that look very talented. We’re putting in hard work. We’ll hopefully do as good, if not better, than last year. It’s going great so far. Everybody’s showing talent. Everybody’s showing hard work and dedication, it’s hot out here. We’re putting in hard work.”

The Hunters look to get out on a good note on Thursday, August 29 when they travel to Mora.
