Duluth FC topples Steel City FC in blockbuster to advance to NPSL national semifinals
In a thrilling matchup between Duluth FC and Steel City FC, the Duluth FC Bluegreens took down Steel City 3-2 in extra time after an improbably tie at the end of regulation.
First, the Bluegreens took a lead early on, as Liam Pritchard found the back of the net to put Duluth FC up.
After an equalizing goal by Steel City, Duluth struck again much later in the match, as Felipe Santos delivered a strike in the 82nd minute to put Duluth on top.
With just about 30 seconds left however, Steel City FC scored, which would send the game to extra time. Additionally, Rory Doyle was issued a red card, putting Duluth at the man down disadvantage.
In extra time, Felipe Carli put the Bluegreens on top for good with a goal in the 99th minute.
Duluth FC advances to the NPSL national semifinals, where they will await their opponent. The match is set for next Saturday, July 27th.
