Duluth Huskies roll past La Crosse Loggers
The Duluth Huskies earned their third straight win Tuesday defeating the La Crosse Loggers 8-4 in their Northwoods League series opener at Wade Stadium.
The game was scoreless until the third inning when Duluth put up one run. Then they exploded in the sixth adding five more to lead 6-0, and capped off their offense scoring two runs in the seventh. The Huskies allowed one run in the seventh and eighth, then two in the ninth but held strong to win 8-4.
Offensively, the Huskies were led by Brady Sullivan with two runs, one hit and one RBI, and Charlie Sutherland with one run, two hits and one RBI. On the mound, Liam Thompson recorded four strikeouts over two innings pitched for Duluth.
The Huskies now move ahead of La Crosse gaining full control of second place in the Great Plains East with a 9-6 record. The two teams entered Tuesday tied for second. Their series finale with the Loggers is Wednesday at 6:35 p.m. at Wade Stadium.
