Duluth Marshall girl’s hockey merges with North Shore

The Duluth Marshall girl’s hockey team will be merging with North Shore for the 2024-2025 season.

North Shore is already a girl’s hockey co-op between Silver Bay and Two Harbors. Two Harbors’ Athletic Director Scott Ross confirmed the Storm’s merger with Duluth Marshall to WDIO’s Alicia Tipcke, citing a lack of numbers for the Hilltoppers.

The majority of practices and games are planned to take place between Two Harbors’ Sonju Arena and Silver Bay’s Rukavina Arena, but the co-op hopes to schedule at least one matchup at Mars Lakeview Arena in Duluth.

Last year the Duluth Marshall girls finished 22-4-1 making their fourth straight Section 7A championship appearance. However, they graduated Ilsa Lindaman who finished second in the state in goals with 57 and second in points with 86. North Shore finished last year 9-17.

This is not the first co-op between the three teams, as boys from Duluth Marshall, Two Harbors, Silver Bay and Lakeview Christian Academy all compete for the Agates’ football program. The Hilltoppers joined that co-op in 2021.
