Duluth native, Utah basketball’s Gianna Kneepkens named to DI award watchlist
She led Duluth Marshall girls basketball to back-to-back state tournaments in 2020 and 2021, so it’s no surprise that Gianna Kneepkens is doing big things in the collegiate basketball world.
This week the Utah Utes junior was one of 20 players named to the 2024 Ann Meyers Drysdale Award preseason watchlist.
The award recognizes the top shooting guard in women’s NCAA DI college basketball.
Last season Kneepkens, a sophomore, averaged 15.3 points and 5.2 rebounds per game. She finished 16th in the nation in 3-point percentage shooting 42.3 percent on the year.
Fan voting for round one opens Friday, October 20. A list of 10 will be announced in January, and the list will be narrowed to five in February. The winner will be revealed in March.
