Esko baseball shutout in Class AA semifinal, finishes in third place
On Friday, the reigning state champion Esko baseball team was blanked by Foley 4-0 in the Class AA state semifinal at Dick Putz field in St. Cloud.
Esko fell into a 3-0 deficit within the first two innings, and allowed a fourth and final run in the 6th inning.
The Esko bats struggled mightily, as they did tally eight hits but struck out 13 times.
Dylan Marciulionis surrendered three hits and just one earned run, however three runs were plated during his appearance. Sam Haugen threw for four innings, allowing just one run on one hit.
Of Esko’s four losses this season, three of them came by shutout.
Esko would go on to earn third place in the Class AA tournament, beating Le Sueur-Henderson 4-1. Esko finishes their season with a 26-4 record.
