A few days ago, many local hockey players got the call to play at the next level, as the NAHL held their drafted.

Five players were scooped up from the Northland, and all five of them have their roots close to each other.

Three Hermantown Hawks – Weston Bohlman, Dane Callaway, and Dominic Thomas were all selected, as well as Proctor’s Kennan Reyelts and Tanner Ross.

Both Bohlman and Thomas were selected by the North Iowa Bulls, while their former teammate Dane Callaway was selected by the St. Cloud Norsemen.

As for the two Rails, Reyelts was selected by the Aberdeen Wings, while Ross heard his name called by the Kenai River Brown Bears.

Staying in Minnesota, the Wilderness selected 12 new players in the draft. The Wilderness didn’t have a pick until the 4th round, and chose Asanali Sarkenov with the 122nd overall pick.

The Wilderness really focused in on the right wing position, using up five of their 12 picks on that spot.

In addition to their draft picks, they’ve also released their schedule for the upcoming season. September 13th is the first chance to watch the Wilderness and some of their new draft picks, as they take on the Fairbanks Ice Dogs. The rest of the schedule can be found here.
