In March former University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) men’s hockey fifth year Jesse Jacques inked a deal with the Iowa Heartlanders, the ECHL affiliate of the Minnesota Wild.
Now Jacques will have yet another Bulldog along side him as former teammate Hunter Lellig signed his first professional contract with the Heartlanders.
“I Lived with Jesse for three years in Duluth. So we’ve done a lot together, always getting food and doing lots of stuff together, it’ll be fun to have him around again. I have kind of worked your whole life to play pro. Going through juniors and college it was always a goal to play hockey for a living and to be able to do that, it’ll be fun,” said Lellig.
The 6’2 stay at home defenseman played in 99 games for UMD from 2018-2022, winning a national title and recording 12 points.
