It’s never too early to talk about the NHL as the season will be opening on October 10th and some teams are out and about signing local stars.
Former University of Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs center Jackson Cates has signed a tryout contract and will be lacing up his skates on the east coast with the New York Islanders.
Before being a free agent, Jackson skated with the Lehigh Valley Phantoms of the AHL (American Hockey League).
He previously played in 20 NHL games recording one goal and an assist. Cates is the older brother to former Bulldog and current left win for the Philadelphia Flyers Noah Cates.
