A former Golden Gopher is making his way to the Bulldogs.

Defensive lineman Trey Bixby will join the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD) football team this fall.

A former Eden Prairie and Saint Edward High School star, Bixby was the Gophers’ number one recruit for the Class of 2022, but he wouldn’t see the field. Bixby would redshirt his freshman year, then medically retire from the sport in 2023 due to injury and illness.

This April, he shared on X that he’s “happy, healthy, in the best shape of his life.” In that same post he announced he had entered the NCAA Transfer Portal.
