In just under three weeks, the UMD women’s hockey team opens their season. However, on Tuesday, four Bulldogs got called for international duty.

Goalie Ève Gascon and freshman forward Caitlin Kraemer were invited by Hockey Canada to join Canada’s National Women’s team September camp.

Also, Ida Karlsson will skate with Sweden, and Nina Jobst-Smith will represent Germany. Karlsson and Jobst-Smith both skated for their countires in the women’s Euro hockey tour in Switzerland last week.

In the last two weeks, 12 skaters with Bulldog ties will have donned the jerseys of their respective national teams: including Ashton Bell, Jocelyne Larocque and Élizabeth Giguère who also skates for Team Canada, and Caroline Oulette who is an assistant coach for Canada.
