Four Northland baseball teams find out state tournament opponent
After a grueling season, many of the Northland’s finest are headed to the state baseball tournament after winning their section titles, and have all learned of their matchups already.
Two teams earned the #1 seed, those being Cherry and Esko.
For Cherry, they had to battle through a doubleheader on Thursday against South Ridge, but ultimately prevailed in the second game to win the Section 7A championship. They’ll take on Lac qui Parle Valley.
To class AA, Esko is on the quest to defend their state title, and they’ll have to face Montevideo in the first round if they want to make it back to back state tourney wins.
In Class AAA, Grand Rapids was the recipient of the random draw seeding, and will take on Mankato East, who snagged the two seed.
In the Wisconsin state tournament, Northwood/Solon Springs baseball drew the 3rd seed and will match up with 2nd seeded Johnson Creek. It’s the Green Eagles first ever state tourney trip. They play on Tuesday, while the Minnesota state tourney kicks off on Thursday.
