Despite all but one UMD women’s basketball player reaching double figures in the first round of the NSIC tournament, the Bulldogs were still victors in a 73-69 battle with Sioux Falls.

Ella Gilbertson was the story of the night for UMD, as she dropped a game high and career high 32 points, keeping UMD afloat all game in moments when they needed her most.

UMD was never able to completely pull away from Sioux Falls, but Gilbertson’s offensive presence was enough for the Bulldogs to pull through.

Up next for UMD is a matchup on Sunday with Concordia St. Paul, who earned a first round bye.
