Northland girls swimmers and divers will make their way down to the state meet this week after qualifying at sections this past weekend.

As teams, Mesabi East won Section 7A and Grand Rapids took second in the finals meet held Saturday, November 9 in Grand Rapids. Duluth East took second in Section 7AA, while Blaine took first, in the finals meet held Saturday, November 9 in Coon Rapids.

Section 7AA team scoring:
Blaine 384, Duluth East 357, Anoka 354, Centennial 263, Forest Lake 261, Andover 255, Cambridge-Isanti 121 and Coon Rapids 107.

Section 7A team scoring:
Mesabi East 398 points, Grand Rapids 341.5, Rock Ridge 240, Hibbing 235.5, Proctor/Hermantown 231, Two Harbors 177, Cloquet/Esko-Carlton 137, International Falls 136, Stella Maris Academy 119, Duluth Denfeld 99, Northeast Range/Ely 84 and Chisholm 41.

The top two event-finishers, top four divers, and top two relay teams in each event qualified for state.

The state meet runs Thursday, November 14 to Saturday, November 16 at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center in Minneapolis.
