While Grand Rapids/Greenway girls hockey saw their season come to a close in the Section 7AA title game Thursday night, falling 7-3 to Andover, there is a bright spot for the Lightning. Their own Mercury Bischoff has been named a top 11 semifinalist for the Ms. Hockey Minnesota Award.

This season the senior scored a whopping 58 goals, adding 28 assists, for 86 points. Those numbers were enough for Bischoff to lead the state in goals and points.

Five finalists will be announced this weekend, and the winner will be named Sunday, February 23rd. For the full list of semifinalists, Click Here.

Only one Northlander has earned the title of Ms. Hockey, which has been awarded since 1996. Hibbing-Chisholm’s Andrea Nichols took home the award in 2003.
