On Tuesday Grand Rapids announced Grant Clafton will be hired as the next head coach of their boys hockey team. The move is pending school board approval.
Clafton led the Greenway boy’s hockey team for five seasons. That included three Section 7A title games, a 7A championship in 2019 and subsequent state runner-up finish.
Clafton is a Grand Rapids native and served as an assistant coach for the Thunderhawks from 2014-2015.
He takes over for Wade Chiodo who stepped down in late September. In July Chiodo was promoted to Team President of the NAHL’s Oklahoma Warriors.
