Grand Rapids track & field races to success in Craig Hougen Relays

The Grand Rapids track and field team found success in the Craig Hougen Relays held Tuesday at Bemidji State University.

The Thunderhawks swept the 1600 meter. Lainie Jackson took first for the girls with a time of 5:26.20, and Brenden Sylvester took first in 4:47.55. He beat the second place finisher from Bemidji by 24 seconds.

Grand Rapids also claimed first in the boys 60 meter hurdles, thanks to a blazing 8.93 second run by Herschel Christensen.

The Thunderhawks also earned first place finishes in the boys 4×800 meter relay in 9:13.17, and the boys 800m thanks to Gunnar Larson’s run of 2:16.10.

As teams, the Grand Rapids boys took second while the girls finished fifth. For full results, Click here.
