Greenway 8th grade archer Masen Chambers wins NASP Western Nationals Championship
He’s only an eighth grader but already Greenway’s Masen Chambers is a national champion.
Last weekend (April 26-27, 2024), he finished the overall male champion in the bullseye event at the National Archery in the School Program (NASP) Western Nationals Championship in Sandy, Utah.
“It was pretty cool. When I shot, I thought I shot such a low score, and I knew I had two really good kids coming up next. I was surprised when I did win,” Chambers shared. “You have to have a lot of determination and motivation and just can’t lose focus on your goals.”
Chambers won the bullseye tournament with a score of 293 out of a possible 300 points. He also won the Centershot 3D challenge, and was the top Middle School 3D shooter.
There were over 2,500 archers, from 24 states and 252 schools, that competed in the 2024 Western Championships.
Qualifying archers from the eastern portion of the United States will soon gear up for their opportunity to compete. Scores from both tournaments (Eastern & Western) will then be combined to determine the individuals and teams that will be named as overall National Champions and then advance to the 2024 NASP Championship Tournament, to be held June 6-8, 2024, in Daytona Beach, Florida.
