It was close game until the end, as Hayward girls basketball edged out a 60-58 win against Superior on Tuesday night at Superior High School. This marked both the Hurricanes’ and Spartans’ season openers.

The Hurricanes benefitted from an even distribution of scorers, with five players in double figures, including Melody Isham with 13, Kendal DeCora with 12, and both Rachel Miller and Holly Froemel with 11 each.

For the Spartans, Annabel Manion led the way with 23 points, followed by Ava Meierotto with 15 points.

The Spartans turn to take on Chippewa Falls next Tuesday while Hayward tries to win another against Bloomer.
