Hermantown native Aaron Pionk commits to UMD men’s hockey

Tuesday Hermantown native Aaron Pionk announced his commitment to play hockey for the University of Minnesota Duluth (UMD). He previously committed to Minnesota State University-Mankato in December 2021.
Pionk graduated from Hermantown High School in 2021 and went on to skate for the Minnesota Wilderness of the North American Hockey League. He’s currently with the Waterloo Black Hawks of the United States Hockey League (USHL). In 60 games this season the defenseman recorded 12 goals and 24 assists.
His brother Neal Pionk, now a Winnipeg Jet, also skated two seasons for UMD from 2015-2017.
