The No. 2 Hermantown volleyball team opened postseason play in style Wednesday shutting out No. 7 Duluth Denfeld 3-0 in the Section 7AAA quarterfinals. The Hawks took set one 25-15, set two 25-12, and set three 25-16.

Hermantown was led by Claire Kaups with 18 digs, 11 kills, and four serving aces. Mikayla Sweeney led in set assists with 18.

Hermantown improves to 19-4 and advances to the Section 7AAA semifinals. They will face No. 3 Princeton (23-4) Monday, October 28 at Hermantown at 6 p.m. For that full bracket, click here.
